Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration or collection
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx), OpenOffice, or PDF file format.
  • All figures, photographic illustrations, and tables are placed directly within the body of the text at their appropriate narrative points rather than collected at the end of the document.
  • The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font (Garamond); employs italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses).
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines. (https://philosophyreason.org/index.php/per/about/submissions)

Author Guidelines

Structural Formatting & Layout

  • Title & Authorship: Must include a concise title, followed by all contributing authors and their complete institutional, academic, or corporate affiliations (including department, organization, address, and email).

  • Abstract: A single, self-contained summary paragraph outlining the background, core methodologies, major findings, and practical implications of the work.

  • Core Sections: Submissions should logically progress through defined sections, typically including Introduction, Materials and Methods / Experimental, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion.

Technical Content & Testing Standards

  • Methodological Detail: Experimental procedures, chemical formulations (e.g., organosilane sol-gel platforms), and testing parameters must be explicitly described.

  • Industry Standards: Quantitative results must cite applicable standardized test methods where relevant (e.g., ASTM C1585, ASTM C642, ASTM C1757, ISO 1523).

  • Visual & Graphic Elements

    • Figures & Diagrams: High-resolution photographs, structural chemistry diagrams, and performance charts must be numbered sequentially.

    • Captions & Credits: Every figure requires a descriptive caption clearly explaining the data, visual markers, and proper attribution or photo credits where applicable.

    • Tables: Data tables must be clearly formatted with column/row headers and explicit units of measurement.

  • Citations & References

    • In-Text Citations: References must be cited numerically within the text using brackets (e.g., [1], [2–5]).

    • Reference List: A numbered reference list at the end of the manuscript must follow standard academic/IEEE-style citations, including author initials, full publication titles, journal or publisher names, volume/issue numbers, pages, years, and active web links or DOIs where applicable.
